Start Light, Lift Safe
A few habits keep barbell training safe and productive.
- Use collars or clips on every set. An unbalanced bar tips fast.
- Start lighter than your ego wants. Your Training Max should feel almost too easy in week 1 — that's by design, and it climbs every cycle.
- Form first, always. A clean rep at a lighter weight beats a grindy, rounded rep at a heavier one. On AMRAP sets, stop when your form breaks, not when you hit failure.
- Warm up the movement, not just the muscles — the 40/50/60% warm-up sets exist to groove the pattern before the working weight.
If a lift ever feels unsafe — you're pinned, off-balance, or in pain — bail the rep. No single set is worth an injury.
